Pakistan Urges Effective Collaboration Among SCO States to Harness Region’s Potential

BEIJING: Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar met Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Ambassador Zhang Ming here on Monday wherein he stressed the effective collaboration among SCO member states to connect the region’s potential for sustained development and prosperity.

The deputy prime minister is on a four-day visit to China to co-chair the Fifth Pakistan-China Foreign Ministers’ Strategic Dialogue with Chinese Minister of Foreign Affairs Wang Yi. The event would add another feather to the long-lasting Pakistan-China friendship and would act as a catalyst for boosting mutual relations.

Pakistan’s Commitment to SCO

Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister Senator Ishaq Dar reaffirmed Pakistan’s steadfast commitment to the SCO Charter and the Organization’s fundamental ideals as articulated in the ‘Shanghai Spirit.’

He highlighted the strong commitment by Pakistan to promoting the security and development cooperation agenda of SCO.

Both the dignitaries also discussed Pakistan’s recent initiatives and contributions in its ongoing Chairmanship of the SCO Council of Heads of Government.

Ambassador Zhang shared his best wishes to the Government of Pakistan on assuming the Chair and reiterated SCO Secretariat’s persistent support to Pakistan during its tenure as Chair of the Heads of Government of the Organization.
