GENEVA: In a statement delivered on behalf of the Islamic countries, Pakistan has emphasized the imperative of investigating Israeli war crimes against the Palestinian people in Gaza and the West Bank, advocating for accountability to be established.

Bilal Ahmad, the permanent representative of Pakistan to the United Nations offices in Geneva, conveyed the urgent need for action during the general debate of the Human Rights Council. He asserted, “It is high time that violations of international human rights law and international humanitarian law including war crimes committed against the Palestinian people are investigated and accountability follows.”

Simultaneously, the Pakistani envoy, speaking on behalf of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) countries, expressed profound concern over the deteriorating human rights situation in Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

“We urge India to comply with the applicable UN Security Council resolutions and implement recommendations addressed to it in the two Kashmir reports by the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR),” the statement from OIC highlighted, stressing the importance of adhering to international obligations in addressing the situation in Kashmir.

The remarks underscore Pakistan’s commitment to advocating for the rights of Palestinians and Kashmiris on international platforms. The call for accountability for Israeli violations and the push for addressing human rights concerns in Kashmir reflect ongoing efforts to bring attention to these critical issues on the global stage.
