UNITED NATIONS: Pakistan has called upon the United Nations to fulfill its obligations regarding the Kashmiri people and work towards the resolution of the long-standing Jammu and Kashmir dispute.

Ambassador Munir Akram emphasized the importance of resolving the issue in accordance with the Security Council resolutions that uphold the right to self-determination for the people of Kashmir.

In his message commemorating ‘Right to Self-determination Day,’ Ambassador Akram highlighted that the future of the international order and global peace and security hinges on achieving a just and peaceful resolution to the Jammu and Kashmir dispute. He reiterated that the right of self-determination for the Kashmiri people is a binding commitment on India, Pakistan, and the UN.

Despite India’s aggressive campaign to suppress the Kashmiri freedom struggle, Ambassador Akram acknowledged the resilient spirit of the Kashmiri people in resisting Indian occupation. He emphasized the historical lesson that no occupying power has succeeded in suppressing the aspirations of a determined population willing to make sacrifices for their freedom.

The Pakistani envoy urged the United Nations, the Security Council, and the international community to fulfill their obligations towards the people of Jammu and Kashmir. He emphasized that sustainable peace, stability, and security in South Asia can only be achieved through a just and peaceful resolution in line with UNSC resolutions and the genuine aspirations of Kashmiris.

Ambassador Akram concluded by renewing Pakistan’s pledge to continue extending moral, diplomatic, and political support to the Kashmiris in their legitimate and just struggle for their inalienable rights. This message reflects Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to advocating for the rights of the Kashmiri people on the international stage.
