JOHOR, Malaysia: Pakistan’s Group B opener against the United States of America (USA) in the ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup 2025 was washed out without a ball being bowled due to persistent rain at the Johor Cricket Academy Oval on Saturday.

The washout left all four teams in Group B – Pakistan, USA, England, and Ireland – with one point each. Pakistan’s next match is scheduled against England on Monday, January 20, followed by their final group-stage fixture against Ireland on January 22, both at the same venue.

Group stage overview

At the conclusion of the group matches, the top three teams from each of the four groups (A, B, C, and D) will progress to the Super Six stage.

Teams that advance will carry forward their wins, points, and Net Run Rate (NRR) from matches against fellow qualifiers.

The top two sides from each Super Six group will qualify for the semi-finals on January 31, while the final will be played on February 2.

Pakistan’s build-up to the tournament

Pakistan arrived in Malaysia on January 11 after a nine-day intensive training camp at Karachi’s Hanif Mohammad High-Performance Centre.

Under the supervision of head coach Mohsin Kamal, alongside coaches Muhammad Hanif Malik and former international Nahida Khan, the team focused on honing their skills through scenario-based matches and practice sessions.

In preparation for the tournament, Pakistan played two warm-up matches, defeating Nigeria by 11 runs at the YSD-UKM Cricket Oval and losing to Australia by 54 runs via the DLS method at the Selangor Turf Club in Kuala Lumpur.

Komal Khan, the captain of Pakistan’s Women’s U19 team, expressed optimism ahead of their remaining group matches.

“Our group has been together for some time now, which has added to the hunger and passion for leaving a mark at the big stage,” she said. “The ultimate target is to bring our best to the middle when we face England and Ireland and convert the results in our favour.”
