ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has witnessed a 13.45 percent increase in exports during the first four months of the current fiscal year compared to the same period last year.
According to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), exports from July to October 2024-25 were recorded at $10.880 billion, up from $9.590 billion during July to October 2023-24.
Conversely, imports also rose by 5.17 percent, increasing from $16.977 billion last year to $17.854 billion this year. As a result, the trade deficit for the reviewed months was recorded at $6.974 billion, a decrease of 5.59 percent from the deficit of $7.387 billion last year.
On a year-on-year basis, exports in October 2024 increased by 10.64 percent, reaching $2.975 billion, up from $2.689 billion in October 2023. Meanwhile, imports saw a decrease of 8.02 percent, dropping from $4.863 billion to $4.473 billion, according to PBS data.
On a month-on-month basis, exports rose by 4.90 percent compared to the $2.836 billion recorded in September 2024. Imports also decreased, falling by 3.93 percent from $4.656 billion in September 2024.
