ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Women’s cricket team skipper Nida Dar won the toss and invited England to bat first, in the first One Day International (ODI) match between the two sides being played at the County Ground in Derby on Thursday.

Like the last match between the men’s team being washed by rain, there are also some chances of showers in today’s match that may interrupt the play.

Receiving a defeat by 0-3, in the T20I series, Pakistan women are committed to stage a comeback in the ODI series.

The series, which is part of the ICC Women’s Championship 2022-25, would be Pakistan’s eighth and final series in the cycle. In the 10-team Women’s Championship, Pakistan is currently positioned in fifth spot with 16 points on the table. The top five teams from this championship, along with host India, would directly qualify for the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup to be held in 2025.

Pakistan’s leading scorer Sidra Amin (948 runs at an average of 52.66) in the ICC Championship 2022-25 is still hopeful about the team’s comeback and said “Despite the recent T20I series not going our way, we are fully focused and eager to put on a good performance in the upcoming matches against England.

She further said that all players in the team were in high spirits and they would focus on playing better cricket and determined to end the ICC Women’s Championship matches on a positive note.
