Pakistan Women’s Team to Face England in First ODI Today

DERBY: Pakistan women’s cricket team will play against England as part of a three-match one day international (ODI) series at the County Ground in Derby on Thursday. The Pakistan women’s team lost the previous series quite badly with a 3-0 loss against England. However, Sidra Amin expressed hope that they will perform better in the next ODI series.

According to ICC, Sidra Amin holds a record of 948 runs at an average of 52.66. She is confident in the women’s team’s abilities and expects a victory against the England.

The Pakistani side is led by Nida Dar. The team comprises of several known players including Diana Baig, Aliya Riaz, and Sidra Amin. On the other hand, the England team is led by Heather Knight. Tammy Beaumont, Sarah Glenn, Kate Cross, Sophie Ecclestone and Charlie Dean will play against Pakistan. Ecclestone broke the record for the highest number of wickets taken by an England bowler in T20 format.

In a set back to the English side, Nat Sciver-Brunt could not make the squad as she is presently unable to bowl. The English skipper is eager to extend her team’s winning stream in the next series as well. The schedule for the upcoming ODI series includes the first game in Derby on Thursday, followed by the second on Sunday in Taunton. Similarly, the third and final match of the series will be played in Chelmsford on May 29.
