ISLAMABAD: Ashura, the 10th of Muharram-ul-Haraam, was observed on Saturday across Pakistan with due solemnity to pay homage to Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and other martyrs of Karbala. The day marks the undeterred resilience of the Prophet’s (PBUH) grandson, Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA), his family, and devoted companions, who all fought to uphold Islam amid opposition and cruelty.
In this connection, mourning processions were taken out in almost all the country’s big cities under strict security. Ulema also highlighted various aspects of the Karbala tragedy in their sermons.
Elaborate security arrangements were made across the country to avoid any untoward incident.
Meanwhile, mobile signals remain shut in various cities following Interior Ministry’s directions to the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority to suspend mobile phone services on the occasion. Pillion riding has also been banned in many cities.
