Pakistani-American Woman Seeks Justice from PM, CJ and Army Chief

ISLAMABAD: A Pakistani-American woman Zakia Noreen Khattak, president of the Nation Building Foundation, and a prominent member of human rights from District Karak Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, has been demanded a ransom of 80 lakh rupees for the release of two children of her family by the local Taliban violent group Janan.
She said that she received serious threats and consequences including the killing of the family by the militant group and has requested Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi to give her justice and provide protection to her family.
Addressing a press conference at the Islamabad National Press Club on Tuesday Zakia Noreen Khattak apprised that in 2001, she worked for human rights, particularly women’s rights in her area and recommended aid to four Christians from Baitul-Mal fund, on which the local Taliban violent groups turned against her and declared her a Christian while issuing a fatwa to kill her. “The militant also stoned my house and office” she said adding that the Janan`s Group head Khalid Mehmood made her family life miserable and also abducted two of her nephews and niece.
She also said that one Khalid Mehmood occupied her mother’s property illegally and hanged Karishma BB in a house in G-9 Islamabad in 2023. She said that after the tragic incident, she fled to the US to save her life.
However, later the militants demanded a ransom of 80 lakh rupees from then. She also registered an FIR No. 259 Karak police station KP. She further said that she wanted to do welfare and humanitarian projects for the welfare of Pakistani American women, however, militants like the Janan group threatened her time and again.
She appealed to the government of Pakistan, especially Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, President Asif Ali Zardari, Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faiz Isa and Chief of Pakistani Army General Syed Asim Munir to provide her justice and give protection to her and her family members.
