Pakistani, Belarusian PMs Meet on Sidelines of SCO Summit

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif held a bilateral meeting with Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko on the sidelines of the SCO Council of Heads of Government (CHG) Meeting in Islamabad on Tuesday.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Shehbaz welcomed Belarus’ participation in the SCO meeting and congratulated the country on becoming a full member of the organization. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to fostering the “Shanghai Spirit” in collaboration with Belarus.

Reflecting on his productive meeting with President Aleksandr Lukashenko in Astana last July, the Prime Minister said that regular high-level exchanges have positively impacted the cordial ties between the two nations. He emphasized the importance of maintaining this momentum to fully realize the potential for bilateral cooperation, particularly in trade, investment, agricultural machinery, joint tractor production, and connectivity.

Prime Minister Golovchenko extended warm congratulations to Pakistan for successfully hosting the SCO CHG Meeting and praised its positive outcomes. He expressed gratitude for the warm welcome and hospitality extended to him and his delegation.

Assuring Pakistan of Belarus’s close collaboration in its role as SCO CHG Chair, Golovchenko reiterated his satisfaction with the positive trajectory of bilateral relations. He echoed Pakistan’s desire to further strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation across various areas of shared interest through joint efforts.
