Pakistani Citizens Make Supreme Sacrifice While Thwarting Terrorist Attack in Oman

MUSCAT: Pakistan’s Ambassador to Oman, Imran Ali, paid tribute on Wednesday to Pakistani citizens who sacrificed their lives while attempting to prevent a terrorist attack on Imam Bargah Ali bin Abu Talib in Muscat, Oman’s capital.

Ambassador Imran Ali, while citing his discussion with eyewitnesses, highlighted the bravery of four Pakistani nationals who tragically lost their lives in the incident. He said that these Pakistani nationals were not mere victims, but heroes who sacrificed themselves to protect others, including women and children.

“Our brave Pakistani martyrs were not specifically targeted in the attack but became victims while heroically saving others,” remarked Ambassador Imran Ali In a video message on Pakistan Embassy Oman’s social media platform, Facebook. He said that the Pakistanis got out on the street to prevent the attack.

“Four Pakistani citizens, who embraced martyrdom in the incident, were not just random victims of terrorism, but they presented supreme sacrifice while saving the lives of others, including women and children,” the Ambassador stated.

Pakistan’s Ambassador clarified that no Pakistani citizen was involved in the dastardly terrorist attack in Muscat. He categorically rejected the propaganda on some digital platforms in this regard.

The Pakistani ambassador said that he had been officially conveyed that the attackers of the Oman attack were not Pakistanis, but identified all four who were martyred as Pakistanis who tried to stop the attackers.

The Ambassador said he had confirmed reports that all three attackers, involved in this incident, were not Pakistanis. He said Pakistan is a victim of terrorism.

He said Pakistan is ready to cooperate with the government and the people of Oman as both nations share each other’s grief.

The attack, claimed by the Islamic State, occurred at Imam Bargah Ali bin Abu Talib in Wadi Al Kabir, resulting in the tragic loss of lives.

The ambassador assured that efforts are underway to ensure the best possible medical care for the injured.

Highlighting the cooperation extended by Omani authorities, Ambassador Imran Ali expressed gratitude for their swift response and support in handling the aftermath of the tragic event. He mentioned that arrangements are being made to repatriate the bodies of the martyred Pakistanis back to their homeland within the next couple of days.

The militant Islamic State group claimed responsibility on Tuesday for an assault on an Imam Bargah in Oman that left at least nine people dead, including three attackers.
