Pakistani Delegation Witnesses Socio-Economic Development in Xinjiang

BEIJING: A Pakistani delegation has visited Urumqi, Kashgar, and Atush in Xinjiang and engaged in in-depth exchanges with local people of all ethnic groups and experienced the actual situation of social stability, economic development, improvement of people’s livelihood, religious harmony, cultural prosperity, and burgeoning tourism in Xinjiang.

Hina Pervaiz Butt, a leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-N, remarked, “In Xinjiang, harmony prevails among its diverse ethnic groups, celebrating the richness of various cultures. Witnessing joyous communal dances, I find Xinjiang life sweeter than honey.”

Venturing into Atush’s villages, the delegation explored rural tourism developments, admiring the picturesque landscapes and impeccably maintained village courtyards. Qasim Qamar, an official from Sindh Province, who revisited Xinjiang after eight years, noted the residents’ confidence in future prospects amidst rapid development and robust infrastructure.

At the Kashgar Comprehensive Free Trade Zone and Urumqi Cultural Center’s Urban Planning Hall, the delegation witnessed Xinjiang’s dynamic economic growth. Covering 180 square kilometers, the Xinjiang pilot FTZ enjoys greater autonomy, stimulating reforms and attracting investments, fostering a gateway between Asia and the West.

Shakeel Ahmad Ramay, a political economist and delegation member, highlighted Pakistan’s strategic alignment with China, foreseeing mutual benefits from the FTZ. Emphasizing China’s commitment to cultural preservation and education, Shakeel praised state-of-the-art educational facilities such as the modern madrassa in Urumqi.

Impressed by an exhibition showcasing Xinjiang’s anti-terrorism efforts, the delegation expressed solidarity with the region’s initiatives. Shakeel reaffirmed their desire to showcase the authentic beauty of Xinjiang, depicting its progressing livelihoods, modernization dividends, and peaceful coexistence among diverse communities.  —APP
