ISLAMABAD: In a display of solidarity, thousands of doctors and paramedics marched through Karachi, Pakistan, on Sunday to condemn Israel’s ongoing military campaign in the densely populated Gaza Strip.
Organized by Jamat-e-Islami (JI) as part of a series of protests against Israeli atrocities, the “White Coat March” saw participants carrying banners, placards, and Palestinian flags while chanting slogans denouncing Israel and its western allies.
The march commenced at the National Stadium signal and concluded at Liaquat National Hospital (LNH) in Karachi.
Protesters Denounce Israeli Brutalities Against Innocent Palestinians
Addressing the protestors, JI Karachi Chief Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman commended the medical community for actively participating in the demonstration and drew attention to the severe consequences of Israel’s actions in Gaza. He highlighted the staggering death toll, surpassing 18,000 innocent civilians, including journalists and doctors, with a significant number being children.
Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman criticized Western nations, particularly the United States and Britain, for their support of Israel’s actions against Palestinian women and children. The JI Karachi chief strongly suggested that supporting a two-state solution would pave the way for recognizing Israel.
Prominent figures, including Interim Sindh Health Minister Saad Khalid Niaz, Abdul Ghafoor Shooro (General Secretary of the Pakistan Medical Association), Dr. Abdullah Mutaqi (Pakistan Islamic Medical Association), Dr. Sabir Abu Maryum (General Secretary of the Palestine Foundation), Dr. Azra Rafiq, Dr. Aziza Anjum (PIMA Women’s Wing), and Alkhidmat Director Health Services Dr. Saqib Ansari, addressed the march, expressing their support for the Palestinian cause.
