Pakistani Envoy Lauds British Pakistanis’ Role in Scotland’s Parliament

LONDON: Pakistan’s High Commissioner to the UK, Dr. Mohammad Faisal has said that British Pakistanis in Scotland’s parliament are playing a key role for community welfare and are acting as a bridge to unite local and Pakistani community.

According to a press statement, he expressed these remarks during meetings with Scottish Labour leader Anas Sarwar MSP and former First Minister Mr. Humza Yousaf MSP.  Dr. Mohammad Faisal held separate meetings with Scottish Labour leader Anas Sarwar MSP and Humza Yousaf MSP at Pakistan Consulate Glasgow.   Pakistani ambassador apprised that Government of Pakistan is focusing on economic stability and is facilitating foreign investors via ease-of-doing-business. He also highlighted the potential of energy, IT and agriculture sectors of Pakistan that can yield positive returns for investors.

He stressed upon capacity building of the youth of Pakistan by providing them more opportunities including higher education, skilled trainings as well as exchange programs with the Scottish Government.

Former First Minister Humza Yousaf MSP emphasised the significance of fostering bilateral ties between Scotland and Pakistan. He said that there is immense potential in the renewable energy sector, where Pakistan can benefit from the expertise of Scotland in wind and hydro energy.

During his maiden trip, the ambassador also visited the historic Glasgow City Chambers which functions as the Headquarters of Glasgow City Council. He had a detailed guided trip led by Baillie Rashid Hussain.
