Pakistani Men’s Garments Exports to China Up by 36%

BEIJING: Pakistani men’s garment export to China rose by 36 percent in the first two months of 2023, and the growth is attributed to the high manufacturing standard and high quality of Pakistani products, said Ghulam Qadir, Commercial Counsellor at Pakistan Embassy in Beijing.

He said that China has always been an important trading partner for Pakistan, with Chinese firms increasingly sourcing garments from Pakistan due to their low prices.

He said that the rise in exports is also attributed to the heightened demand for Pakistani apparel from Chinese consumers, who have been seeking more stylish clothing options.

In January- February 2023, men’s garments exports from Pakistan to China crossed 4.36 million dollars, while last year in the same period, it was 3.21 million dollars, showing an increase of 36 per cent.

The top products were men’s trousers of cotton community worth 2.57 million dollars, whereas he stated that January-February of 2022 was 1.27 million dollars.

Pakistani garments’ annual exports

It is to be noted that Pakistani men’s garments’ annual exports to China in 2022 were 28.66 million dollars, while in 2021, it was 21.62 million dollars, an increase of nearly 33 per cent. Men’s trousers of cotton, worth 17.94 million dollars, remained the top goods, while in 2021, it was 12.59 million dollars.

Pakistan’s T-shirt exports to China also reached 5.53 million dollars in the first two months of 2023, up more than 106 percent compared to the same period last year.

Overall, Pakistan’s export to China crossed 446 million dollars in the first two months of 2023
