ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives Ahsan Iqbal chaired a high-level meeting on Thursday to assess the progress of ongoing projects under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
The meeting included key officials such as Secretary of Planning Awais Manzoor Sumra, Joint Chief Economist Operations Zafar-ul-Hassan, and other senior members from the Ministry, as noted in a press release from the planning ministry.
During the meeting, Iqbal emphasized the importance of ensuring the success of the five-year CPEC development plan by involving all provinces of Pakistan and promoting equitable development opportunities. He directed that all five corridors be interconnected, including critical components such as CPEC Phase I and Phase II, to achieve the project’s objectives.
The minister stressed the need for the timely completion of major projects, including the ML-1 and the Karakoram Highway (KKH), and called for regular monitoring to ensure they are finished within the specified timelines.
Highlighting CPEC’s significance, Ahsan Iqbal stated that these projects are crucial for Pakistan’s economic stability and will play a vital role in the nation’s progress and prosperity.
