LONDON: Pakistani-origin British boxer Hamzah Sheeraz has made headlines by winning the Middleweight European Boxing title after a decisive victory over Tyler Denny at Wembley Stadium on Saturday.
The match showcased Sheeraz’s exceptional skills and dominance, leading to a technical knockout that solidified his undefeated record.
From the outset, the 25-year-old Sheeraz demonstrated his prowess, employing a powerful combination of punches that sent Denny to the canvas twice during the bout. The first knockdown occurred early in the first round, where a sharp right cross followed by a left hook caught Denny off guard. Despite regaining his footing, the 33-year-old Denny faced a challenging fight ahead.
In the second round, Sheeraz intensified his attack, delivering a formidable left hook that sent Denny sprawling again. Referee Mark Bates intervened, declaring the match over despite Denny’s efforts to continue.
With this victory, Sheeraz’s professional record improved to 21 wins with no losses, showcasing his remarkable talent and resilience in the ring. In addition to the European title, he also claimed the Commonwealth and WBC ‘Silver’ titles.
Tyler Denny’s defeat marked a setback in his career, dropping his record to 19 wins, 3 losses, and 3 draws. The loss ended his six-fight winning streak and denied him the chance to retain his title.
