LAHORE: Pakistani Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif met with Belarusian Foreign Minister Sergei Aleinik on Wednesday in Lahore.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister extended a warm welcome to the Foreign Minister and expressed Pakistan’s strong commitment to enhancing the cordial and diverse relations shared between the two countries.
He emphasized the importance of mutual cooperation in various sectors, including the economy, agriculture, science and technology, information technology, education, and culture.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif highlighted Pakistan’s dedication to fostering mutually beneficial ties with Belarus and reaffirmed the country’s resolve to strengthen cooperation in all areas of mutual interest.
PM Shehbaz also briefed Foreign Minister Aleinik about the human rights violations being perpetrated by India in the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, expressing concern over the situation.
Belarusian FM Acknowledges Pakistan’s Contributions to Regional Security
Foreign Minister Aleinik conveyed the warm greetings of Belarusian President Lukashenko to the Prime Minister, recognizing Pakistan’s significance in the region and appreciating its efforts towards promoting peace and stability. The Foreign Minister acknowledged Pakistan’s contributions to regional security and expressed Belarus’ keenness to deepen bilateral cooperation.
The meeting also touched upon the upcoming commemoration of the 30th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Pakistan and Belarus in 2024. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif welcomed the continuation of high-level exchanges and engagement between the two countries, extending an invitation to the Belarusian President to visit Pakistan at the earliest convenience.
