Pakistani Senators to Observe Uzbekistan’s Parliamentary Elections

ISLAMABAD: A three-member group of Pakistani senators, led by Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Irfan Siddiqui, is set to travel to Tashkent, Uzbekistan, on Friday, October 25, to observe the upcoming parliamentary elections.

The observer delegation, invited by Uzbekistan’s Central Election Commission, includes Senator Sarmad Ali from the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and Senator Amer Chishti from the Mutahidda Quomi Movement (MQM).

Uzbekistan is preparing for its parliamentary elections on October 27, 2024. The delegation plans to hold meetings with members of the Uzbek Assembly, government officials, and the Chief Election Commissioner. On election day, they will visit several polling stations to monitor the electoral process, as well as the shrine of Imam Bukhari in Samarkand.

According to the Uzbek Election Commission, the selection of the senators was made in accordance with the recommendations of the Uzbek Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
