ISLAMABAD: Four Pakistani soldiers who were martyred on Thursday in a gunbattle with terrorists in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province laid to rest on Friday with full military honours.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Pakistan’s military media wing, Naib Subedar Taib Shah, 38, was buried in his hometown of Tank district. Lance Naik Gulab Zaman Shaheed, from Karak district; Lance Naik Habibullah Shaheed, from Orakzai district; and Lance Naik Muzammil Mehmood Shaheed, from Karak district, were laid to rest in their respective hometowns with full military honours.
A large number of military and civil officials, Pakistan Army personnel, relatives of the martyrs, and local community members attended the funeral prayers and burials of the martyred soldiers.
Pakistan’s security forces remain steadfast in their commitment to eradicate the menace of terrorism, the ISPR said in a statement, adding that the sacrifices of these courageous soldiers further strengthen their resolve.
On Thursday, the ISPR had said that four Pakistani soldiers embraced martyrdom while five terrorists were killed during an exchange of fire between security forces and Khwarij terrorists in the north-western Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
The exchange of fire took place in the general area of Karama, South Waziristan district, which shares a border with Afghanistan.
