Pakistani Students to Compete in Huawei Seeds for Future Regional Finals in Tashkent

ISLAMABAD: Eight Pakistani students will participate in the regional finals of Huawei’s Seeds for the Future 2024 program, scheduled to take place in Tashkent, Uzbekistan from August 11 to 17.

This prestigious event, part of Huawei’s flagship Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, will bring together a record 157 students from 14 countries across the Middle East and Central Asia.

The Seeds for the Future program, launched in 2008, aims to cultivate global ICT talent by providing students with critical skills and experiences needed for a rapidly evolving digital world. This year’s regional round, supported by Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Digital Technologies and the IT Education Association, underscores the program’s expansive reach and significant impact. Over 18,000 students from 141 countries have benefited from this initiative, highlighting its global importance.

The Pakistani team includes Areeba Faheem and Muhammad Ahmad from COMSATS University Islamabad, Haider Irfan and Mian Akbar Jan from GIKI, Abtaal Aatif and Isaam Ansari from FAST NUCES, Zahra Nawaz from UET Taxila, and Asfand Yar Jamali from NUST Islamabad..

These students were selected for their outstanding potential and are poised to showcase their skills in various technological and entrepreneurial challenges.

Steven Yi, President of Huawei in the Middle East and Central Asia, emphasized the program’s commitment to equipping young minds with essential skills through diverse opportunities such as online courses, competitions, and scholarships.

The initiative also includes Tech4Good, an entrepreneurship program that encourages participants to develop tech-based solutions for social issues, promoting sustainable development and innovation.

The Seeds for the Future program not only focuses on technical knowledge but also fosters cross-cultural understanding and prepares students to lead in the digital transformation of their respective regions. By bridging the gap between academic learning and industry needs, Huawei’s initiative aims to empower the next generation of ICT leaders and contribute to the global digital economy.
