In a remarkable feat, a team of three talented students from Pakistan, namely Muhammad Hadi Saif, Ayaan Waqar, and Ali Saif, secured their position in the event by designing an autonomous vehicle harnessing cutting-edge artificial intelligence capabilities.
The triumphant team’s journey began by emerging victorious in the national competition hosted by the World Robot Olympiad in Pakistan. The self-driving car category entailed the creation of a fully autonomous vehicle, leveraging an array of state-of-the-art technologies, including computer vision, machine learning, and a fusion of radar, infrared, and sonar sensors. These innovations allowed the car to navigate an array of challenges carefully designed by the judges.

The Pakistani team’s remarkable accomplishment has earned them the privilege of representing their nation on the global stage. The forthcoming WRO’23 International finals, scheduled for November in Panama City, will witness Pakistan’s maiden participation in this highly competitive event.
Zartaj Ahmed, the orchestrator of the WRO national competition in Pakistan, remarked, “This is the first time a team from Pakistan has qualified for this category.” The self-driving car category poses immense technical challenges, making the achievement even more remarkable. Ahmed added, “This is a very challenging category, and we are thrilled that a team from Pakistan is able to compete at a global level.”
Muhammad Hadi Saif, the leader of the triumphant team, reflected on months of dedicated efforts that culminated in the creation of a truly autonomous vehicle. He expressed confidence in the team’s innovative approach utilizing artificial intelligence, expressing optimism about their prospects in the international competition.
