ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday said that he was deeply moved by the example of an anonymous Pakistani who walked into the Turkish embassy, in the US and donated $30 million for the earthquake victims of Turkiye and Syria.
A Pakistani in the United States (US) anonymously “donated $30 million to the Turkish embassy” for the earthquake-affected people in Turkiye and Syria as the calamity took the lives of thousands and destroyed thousands of homes.
Devastating quake claims over 24,000 lives
The devastating powerful earthquake wreaked havoc in Turkiye and Syria early morning on Monday and has so far claimed over 24,000 lives as hopes of finding more survivors faded.
On his Twitter handle, he said that these were such glorious acts of philanthropy that enabled humanity to triumph over the seemingly insurmountable odds.
In a video shared on Twitter, a journalist associated with TRT World, Yousuf Erim, also lauded the move and said: “Individuals, a Pakistani businessman walked into the Turkish embassy in the US and anonymously donated $30 million by himself. We do not know who he is. His identity has not been revealed.”
