ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Acting President Sadiq Sanjrani responded to the desecration of the Holy Quran in Sweden by writing a letter to the speaker of the Swedish parliament on Tuesday, denouncing the incident as a despicable act.
In his letter, Sanjrani emphasized the importance of respecting religious sentiments and upholding the values of tolerance, peace, prosperity, humanity, and love. He highlighted that Islam discourages violence and promotes peace, with the Holy Quran serving as an eternal guide in fostering understanding and harmony.
Stressing the prohibition of insulting other religions, prophets, or holy books in Islam, Sanjrani underscored the need to educate people globally about the true message of Islam. He expressed deep devotion and love for the Holy Prophet (PBUH) and the Holy Quran, stating that the recent desecration had caused misperception and a lack of awareness, which required addressing misconceptions about Islam.
Swedish Government’s Condemnation
Sanjrani called upon individuals to take responsibility in promoting interfaith harmony, tolerance, and understanding. He commended the Swedish government for condemning the sacrilege and offered to personally visit Sweden to dispel any misconceptions about Islam.
The Acting President emphasized that treating different faiths, religions, and communities with tolerance, respect, and compassion is essential for regional and global stability. He concluded by highlighting the potential for mutual cooperation in creating a tolerant and peaceful world.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also condemned the desecration and called for strict action against those responsible. He expressed satisfaction over the emergency meeting of the Organisation of the Islamic Conference (OIC) regarding the incident, reiterating the need to bring the perpetrators to justice.
The incident in Sweden has sparked widespread outrage among Muslims across the world, reflecting their commitment to protecting religious sanctities and promoting global harmony.
