Pakistan’s Army Chief Inspires Nation to Remain Hopeful Amid Challenges

ISLAMABAD: The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) of Pakistan, General Syed Asim Munir, urged the nation to remain hopeful during these challenging times. General Munir expressed his belief that Pakistan would soon overcome the difficulties and become strong once again. He emphasized the importance of common determination and unity in achieving this goal.

Addressing the “first ever” Pakistan Mineral Summit in Islamabad, the COAS highlighted the federal government’s initiative of establishing the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) in collaboration with all institutions, which will provide a platform for all partners to contribute to the nation’s progress.

Drawing attention to the nation’s diverse landscape, from snow-capped mountains to deserts and coastal belts to plains, the COAS urged the countrymen to utilize the abundant natural resources to benefit the country. He emphasized that mineral projects are essential for the development of the people and quoted verses from the Quran to emphasize the value of self-help and perseverance.

General Munir expressed his gratitude to Barrick Gold CEO and President Mark Bristow, Saudi Mining Minister Engineer Khalid bin Saleh Al Madifar, and other investors. He stressed that joint efforts from both domestic and foreign investors could unlock the hidden treasures of Pakistan’s mineral wealth.

Investment Opportunities in Pakistan 

The COAS highlighted that the country’s first mineral summit has laid down new rules for ease of doing business, aiming to attract more domestic and foreign investments. He assured the audience that Pakistan offers numerous opportunities for mining, which can be harnessed through collaborative efforts.

The Army Chief called upon foreign investors to play their part in exploring Pakistan’s vast mineral resources. He reiterated that the nation’s resilience, as exemplified in the Quranic verses, will lead them through the trials they face.

The Pakistani government organized its “first-ever” mineral conference in Islamabad to explore the potential of the minerals industry. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif participated in the conference as the chief guest and the Army Chief as the guest of honour.

The inaugural session of the seminar was attended by experts in mineralogy, foreign ambassadors, foreign investors, federal ministers, and other important personalities.

Ministry of Petroleum Pakistan and Berik Gold Corporation are the joint hosts of the seminar. Pakistan has immense potential in its mineral resources, and the objective of the seminar is to promote direct foreign investment opportunities in the mineral sector.
