Pakistan’s Army Chief to Host Ceremony in Honor of Arshad Nadeem

RAWALPINDI: Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir will host a special ceremony in honour of Olympic Gold Medalist Arshad Nadeem and his family at the General Headquarters, Rawalpindi on Friday.

Arshad Nadeem lived up to the expectations of the nation and brought glory to the country. He will be a torchbearer for the young generation of Pakistan in the field of sports.

Nadeem, who secured a gold medal for Pakistan in the Paris Olympics, is currently in Karachi and participated in the Independence Day celebrations at the Sindh Governor House on the night of August 14.

Earlier today, Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori and Olympic gold medalist Arshad Nadeem visited the mausoleum of the father of the nation Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah to pay their respects and offer Fateha.

They laid wreaths at the mausoleum and wrote messages in the visitor’s book.

Afterwards, both Governor Tessori and Arshad Nadeem spoke to the media, saying that their visit was to honour the Father of the Nation.

During his visit, Nadeem also met with Governor Tessori at the Governor House, where Tessori presented him with a cheque of Rs. 2 million as a reward for his exceptional achievement in the javelin throw at the Paris Olympics.

Chief Minister (CM) of Sindh Murad Ali Shah handed over a cheque of Rs50 million, Ajrak and a traditional Sindhi cap to javelin thrower Arshad Nadeem for winning a gold medal at the Paris Olympics.

Nadeem made the achievement in with an Olympic Games record of 92.97 metres, pushing India’s Neeraj Chopra to second spot.

As per reports, Arshad Nadeem visited Sindh CM House at the invitation of Syed Murad Ali Shah. The chief minister handed over Rs50 million cheque and also announced Rs 5 million to his coach.

Nadeem, speaking on the occasion, expressed his gratitude to the chief minister for honoring his achievements adding that Shah was the first who congratulated him even before getting a medal.

Sindh CM also extended his government’s full backing to the javelin hero on behalf of PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.

During the meeting, Sindh Sports Minister Muhammad Bux Mahar also gave a cheque to the star javelin thrower in his personal capacity while it was announced to name a road in Karachi after Arshad Nadeem.
