Pakistan’s Army Chief Warns Terrorists to Surrender or Face Action

PESHAWAR: Pakistan’s Army Chief, General Syed Asim Munir, categorically stated that terrorism will find no refuge within Pakistan and negotiations with terrorist groups will not be held.

“The recent surge in terrorism incidents was a futile attempt by terrorists to revive negotiations. However, for these terrorists, surrendering and accepting the writ of the state of Pakistan is the only viable option,” a statement issued by the Pak-Army media wing, ISPR, quoted Army Chief General Asim Munir as saying.

General Syed Asim Munir embarked on a visit to the terrorism-prone province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where he engaged in an ‘interactive session’ with tribal elders and prominent figures from the Newly Merged Districts (NMDs) of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

During his address, General Asim Munir highlighted Pakistan’s unwavering determination to combat terrorism effectively. He emphasized that the nation’s collective resolve has fortified its stance against terrorism, fostering a secure and harmonious environment conducive to socioeconomic progress.

Pointing out to the attack in Balochistan’s Zhiob, involving Afghan nationals, the Army Chief said that their involvement in terrorist incidents within Pakistan was deemed it detrimental to regional peace and a violation of the Doha Peace Agreement by the interim Afghan Government.

Army Chief Expresses Concern Over Terrorists’ Sanctuaries in Afghanistan

Regarding cross-border attacks attributed to the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), General Munir expressed concerns over sanctuaries and the operational freedom enjoyed by proscribed groups on Afghan soil. He pledged Pakistan’s relentless pursuit of dismantling these networks to safeguard its citizens at all costs.

On the other hand, the tribal elders responded with unwavering support, affirming their steadfast rejection of the TTP and its ideology. They pledged their continued allegiance to the state, standing resolutely alongside it in every challenge.

General Munir emphasized the potential of the Newly Merged Districts (NMDs) and ongoing initiatives aimed at boosting socioeconomic growth through the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC). He highlighted the province’s abundant mineral resources and picturesque tourism prospects, envisioning a brighter future for its locals.

Reiterating Pakistan Army’s solidarity with the tribal people, General Munir paid tribute to their sacrifices and stressed the significance of investing in youth and comprehensive development.

The Army Chief resolutely reaffirmed Pakistan’s armed forces and law enforcement agencies commitment to eradicating terrorism, pledging unwavering determination until its complete elimination.

General Munir asserted that any attempts by hostile forces to propagate false narratives against Pakistan’s armed forces would be dealt with as per the law.

Earlier upon his arrival, Corps Commander Peshawar received the Army Chief. Army Chief laid a floral wreath at the Yaadgar-e-Shuhada at Fort Bala Hisar, the Headquarters of Frontier Corps.
