DUBAI: Pakistan cricketers experience a ranking boost, with main players like Shaheen Afridi, Babar Azam, and Mohammad Rizwan making notable improvements in the latest ICC Test rankings, a statement said on Wednesday.

Babar Azam, Pakistan’s white-ball skipper, has upgraded his standing in the Test rankings.

Despite the current struggles in test cricket, Babar Azam has climbed one position to 11th position, now holding 712 rating points.

Mohammad Rizwan has surged back into the top ten, securing the 9th position with 720 rating points. Saud Shakeel has declined to the 21st position with 661 rating points, while Salman Ali Agha has fallen to the 32nd position with 606 rating points.

On the other hand, Sri Lankan cricketers have made progress after their surprising Test win over England at The Oval.  Dhananjaya de Silva has obtained a career-high rating, moving up to 13th place in the Test batting rankings following his impressive 69 in the first innings.

Kusal Mendis and Pathum Nissanka reached career-best ratings, with Mendis climbing to 19th position after a notable 50 and Nissanka making a remarkable jump to 39th after innings of 64 and 127*.

England’s Joe Root maintains his place as the No.1 Test batsman. This has permitted New Zealand’s Kane Williamson and Daryl Mitchell, along with Steve Smith of Australia to close in on the top place.

In the bowling rankings, Pakistan’s Shaheen Afridi has made a good comeback to the top ten, now positioned at 10th place with 709 rating points.
