Pakistan’s Cabinet Approves MoU with China to Enhance Trade Cooperation

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s federal cabinet on Friday approved a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Trade Promotion Cooperation aimed at enhancing trade relations between China and Pakistan.

The decision, made during a federal cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, followed recommendations from the Ministry of Commerce.

The MoU focuses on several key areas including smartphone production, new energy vehicles, textiles, agricultural product processing, pharmaceutical manufacturing, and information technology.

Furthermore, the cabinet approved a bill for the charter of the National University of Modern Languages, as recommended by the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training.

Federal Cabinet Okays Establishment of New University

The bill for the establishment of King Hammad University of Nursing and Associated Medical Sciences, in cooperation with Bahrain, was also endorsed. This new university aims to address modern educational challenges in Pakistan.

Regarding missing persons, the inter-ministerial committee submitted a report detailing the impact of terrorism and internal challenges in Pakistan following the Afghan war.

The report highlighted the decade-long efforts of the inquiry commission on missing persons.

The cabinet approved a financial assistance package of Rs 5 million for the families of each missing person, based on the committee’s recommendations.

Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar announced that this package, introduced by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, cannot be reclaimed even if a missing person is found.

The cabinet also approved the formation of a special committee to review genuine cases and ensure support for affected families. Measures will be taken to address related issues with NADRA, including bank account and inheritance concerns.
