ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa responded to allegations of rigging leveled against him by the Rawalpindi Division Commissioner on Saturday, dismissing them as baseless.

“These allegations hold no truth; anyone can make such claims,” stated the Chief Justice while responding to journalists’ questions.

CJP Isa emphasized, “You have the right to allege but provide evidence. The determination of truth or falsehood will be made later.”

He added, “Tomorrow, he might be accused of murder or theft.”

In another development, a crucial meeting of Supreme Court judges was convened in the chamber of Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa to address the accusations made by the Rawalpindi Division Commissioner.

The judges participating in the consultation include Justice Muneeb Akhtar, Justice Yahya Afridi, Justice Ayesha Malik, and Justice Athar Minallah. The primary focus of the gathering was reportedly reviewing the accusations put forth by the Rawalpindi commissioner.

Sources indicate that senior judges of the Supreme Court, including Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa, were present at the meeting.

The Chief Justice’s remarks came in response to Rawalpindi Division Commissioner Liaqat Ali Chatha’s assertion that election fraud occurred under his supervision, and he, feeling guilty, surrendered himself to the police.

Chatha alleged the involvement of the Chief Election Commissioner and Chief Justice in the rigging, citing his ancestors’ sacrifices for Pakistan as the reason his conscience compelled him to speak out.
