ISLAMABAD: Punjab’s Minister for Industries and Commerce, S.M. Tanveer, has said that due to corrective measures taken by the government, the country’s economy showed some optimistic signs of revival, and the government has shown its commitment to take the economy back on track towards sustainable growth.
The minister said this while addressing a dinner reception hosted by Atif Ikram Sheikh, former President of ICCI and presidential candidate of UBG for FPCCI on Saturday, adding that being part of corrective measures, the provincial government has established a business facilitation center as a one-window facility to automate the licenses and NOCs required for starting up or expanding businesses. He said that these measures would help to boost and flourish business activities in the province.
In his remarks, the President of the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI), Ahsan Zafar Bakhtawari, said that FPCCI played a crucial role in promoting the private sector in the country and supporting the government in enhancing exports. He further said that FPCCI also encourages foreign investment and stimulates economic activities in the country.
Pakistan’s Economy Needs to be Boosted
However, Khalid Iqbal Malik, Group Leader of ICCI, showed his reservations about the current leadership of FPCCI and said that all chambers of commerce and trade associations should support UBG (United Business Group) in the upcoming elections of FPCCI so that this apex trade body could play a decisive role in making the country as a center business and economic activities.
Atif Ikram Sheikh, presidential candidate of UBG for FPCCI, said that they have prepared a plan to address the key issues of the business community and steer the economy out of trouble. He said that they would realize the late SM Munir’s mission after winning the FPCCI elections to make Pakistan a hub of business activities in the region.
