NEW YORK: Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States, Rizwan Saeed Sheikh, met with a diverse group of Pakistani-Americans in New York and called for enhanced collaboration to strengthen Pak-US ties.
During his busy schedule, the ambassador held discussions with US Congressman Tom Suozzi, Co-Chair of the Congressional Pakistan Caucus, focusing on ways to enhance relations between the two countries.
During his talk, he emphasized promoting economic partnership, security cooperation, and people-to-people connections.
Ambassador Sheikh also extended an invitation to Congressman Suozzi to visit Pakistan.
He engaged with prominent Pakistani-origin businessmen from various sectors, including travel and tourism, petroleum, textiles, IT services, and food imports, to discuss enhancing bilateral trade and economic ties for mutual growth.
The ambassador assured these business leaders of his commitment to supporting their efforts in exploring investment and partnership opportunities. Additionally, he met with office-bearers of the Pakistani American Community of Long Island (PACOLI), led by Humayoun Shabbir, alongside Pakistan’s Consul General in New York, Aamer Ahmed Atozai.
The meeting focused on community welfare initiatives, particularly in facilitating skilled labour opportunities for Pakistani professionals in the healthcare and IT sectors.

Ambassador Sheikh praised PACOLI’s initiatives to promote local political engagement and stressed the importance of leveraging the Pakistani-American network to strengthen business linkages and address community concerns.
He reaffirmed Pakistan’s dedication to supporting its diaspora in the United States.
The ambassador also attended a community meeting hosted by Dr. Abid Sheikh, where he highlighted initiatives aimed at boosting trade, investment, and community support.
In collaboration with the Association of Physicians of Pakistani Descent of North America (APPNA) New York chapter, he discussed opportunities for cooperation in healthcare and commended the chapter’s role in strengthening Pak-US bilateral ties in both social and humanitarian sectors.
