Pakistan’s Finance Minister Attends G-24 Roundtable on Tax Policy Reforms

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Minister for Finance, Revenue, and Economic Affairs, Dr. Shamshad Akhtar, has affirmed the government’s strong commitment to promoting international cooperation and innovative tax policy solutions aimed at bolstering the country’s revenue base.

She actively participated in a roundtable discussion focused on Global Tax Policy Reforms and Options for the G-24.

The event took place in conjunction with the annual meeting of the World Bank and International Monetary Fund (WB/IMF), according to a press release from the Ministry of Finance issued on Saturday.

The G-24 gathering served as a platform for substantial discussions concerning critical global economic matters and the exploration of dynamic avenues for tax reform within the G-24 community.

Later at the day, she met the Director General of Kuwait Fund for Development (KFD), Mr. Waleed Al Bahaar, on the sidelines of the annual meeting of WB/IMF and discussed strengthening economic cooperation and fostering financial partnerships between Pakistan and Kuwait, in order to bolster economic prosperity and development.

The Pakistan Finance Minister also convened a high-level meeting with key leadership from the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA) on the sidelines of the annual meetings of the WB/IMF. 

The discussions focused on advancing economic stability, fostering investment opportunities, and enhancing revenue strategies.
