ISLAMABAD: A total of 13 participants from Pakistan’s first ‘Al in HR’ certificate course from six cities and nine industries will test Pakistan’s first Al recruitment tool today during their final HR module presentations.

The Al tool is being developed by Ali Zahid, a Silicon Valley Tech Lead software developer based in Dubai, UAE. The course is being taught by Dr Seerat Fatima, a Ph.D. in management at BZU Multan, and Wali Zahid, CEO of SkillCity, Karachi.

A Google Trends snapshot of ‘AI in HR’ shows India is leading the world, with the UK, Malaysia, and the US on numbers 2,3 and 4, respectively. Pakistan is not on the Google Trends data yet.

Pakistan Learning Forum (PLF), a MOOC-style free initiative in in-person executive education, offered the first cohort of ‘AI in HR’ in August this year as a micro effort to put Pakistan on the AI in HR map.

Innovative AI Recruitment Tool

In order to provide practice on an AI tool, Ali Zahid developed the AI tool in recruitment, where participants can write job descriptions, post it on LinkedIn or job boards and portals, receive CVs, shortlist CVs, and (in version 2) initiate the first interview through a ChatBot without a human intervention.

PLF and Ali expect this tool to be used in global SME organizations for firms’ recruitment needs so HR function can save time on manual work and instead focus on value chain activities.

PLF was established in 2019, and it has 12 chapters in Pakistan and overseas, where executives meet once a month for peer-to-peer learning.

Ali Zahid has led some major tech development projects, including putting Danube, Saudi Arabia’s largest superstore chain, in online grocery sales.

A total of 13 participants, all seasoned HR professionals from various cities and industries are attending this course. The second cohort will start later this month, with biweekly virtual classes in the evening.
