KARACHI:  In an innovative move for education in Pakistan, a school in Karachi has introduced the South Asian country’s first AI-powered teacher, Miss Annie to revolutionize the classroom experience, and an advanced approach to teaching that harnesses the power of artificial intelligence (AI).

This step was taken by Happy Palace School’s Isphani Campus, Karachi to revolutionize education in Pakistan.

This initiative combines advanced technology with traditional teaching methods to create a fun and interactive classroom, where students receive quick answers and enjoy a unique learning experience.

Miss Annie was developed in just eight months by the school’s AI team, led by School’s Vice Principal Sadaf Bhatti.

AI-powered teacher was specifically designed to address a common challenge: ensuring that students receive fast and accurate answers to their questions.

Unlike human teachers who might need a moment to think, Miss Annie provides instant responses, which makes her a favourite among students.

Students appreciate Miss Annie for her ability to cover a wide range of subjects, including math, science, languages, and even topics like AI, history, and recipes. Her proficiency in multiple languages, such as Urdu, English, Pashto, and Punjabi, allows her to be easily understood by all students.

Miss Annie teaches for four hours each day, assisting students with their school subjects while also enhancing their general knowledge. Both teachers and students believe she is setting a new standard for learning.

This exciting development represents a significant step toward modernizing education in Pakistan and could inspire similar innovations in schools across the country.

Meanwhile, in January 2022, Rehan School, part of the Supertec Foundation, a CSR initiative of the US-based Super Technologies Inc., transitioned away from traditional teaching methods. The school leverages technology to deliver knowledge through AI-powered, easy-to-understand videos and other digital tools.

In a country like Pakistan where repetition learning is prevalent, this institution offers an innovative model incorporating podcasts, TED Talks, and AI technologies to make education more engaging and effective.

“Our goal is to build students’ confidence, develop their skills, and improve their listening and communication abilities through tools like TEDx, interviews, and our Faceless software,” said Altaf Hussain, principal of the Korangi campus in Karachi, Arab news reported.

Located in Karachi’s Korangi Industrial area, the two-story building stands out in stark contrast to the informal settlements and factories that surround it. Inside, it serves as a hub of creativity, with features like the principal’s office themed after the International Space Station, symbolizing the unlimited potential of the students.

The school follows an eight-level curriculum that emphasizes skills like public speaking and creative expression, inspired by TED Talks and interviews. Before progressing to the second level, students must earn $100 through freelancing, fostering practical skills and independence.

A unique feature of the school is the “Corridor of Inspiration,” which is lined with motivational quotes from figures such as Malala Yousafzai, Einstein, and Mother Teresa, encouraging students to dream big.

These initiatives are reshaping Pakistan’s educational landscape. Both innovations are equipping students with the tools they require in a rapidly changing world, challenging traditional methods and setting a new standard for learning.
