KARACHI: Pakistan’s First Lady Begum Samina Arif Alvi said on Monday that it is our society’s collective moral and social responsibility to increase the inclusion and empowerment of persons with disabilities (PWDs), with more efforts to discourage and eliminate the discriminatory practices against PWDs.
She expressed her views during her visit to the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) amid a discussion on the socio-economic matters faced by people with disabilities in Pakistan.
The First lady stressed the need to ensure augmented accessibility for PWDs and improve and properly implement existing laws. She also highlighted the need to overcome the existing gaps in implementation, which is important to ensure the creation of an inclusive society where persons with disabilities can live a life with a level playing field.

She also lauded the KCCI’s efforts to contribute better to ensuring increased financial support for people with disabilities.
