Pakistan’s First Lady Wants Programs for Improving Women’s Health

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s First Lady Begum Samina Arif Alvi has underlined the need to launch programs for women that positively impact their mental and physical health.

The first lady said this while addressing the launching ceremony of Ascend Athletics Pakistan.

Begum Samina said that women constituted almost 50% of Pakistan’s population. Therefore, they needed to be provided with standard quality and cost-effective healthcare services.

Samina Alvi observed that ensuring women’s health was important for the development of Pakistan and ensuring the prosperity and health of a family.

Leadership development programs for women

Ascend Athletics is planning to launch a leadership development initiative based program on civic and sports engagement in Gilgit-Baltistan and Skardu.

Under the initiative, 60 girls would be trained in Gilgit-Baltistan in climbing and mountaineering, leadership, physical fitness, mental health, and public service.

Begum Alvi hoped the programs would positively impact women’s health and enable girls to become active and useful citizens of the country.
