ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Caretaker Foreign Minister Jalil Abbas Jilani is visiting China to participate in the third Trans-Himalaya Forum for International Cooperation, being organized in Nyingchi, Tibet Autonomous Region, on 4-5 October.
The foreign minister is undertaking the trip at the special invitation of the Foreign Minister of China, Wang Yi, the Foreign Office said in a statement on Monday.
The Trans-Himalaya Forum was initiated in 2018 to expand practical cooperation among regional nations on diverse subjects including environmental protection, ecological preservation, geographical connectivity, and enhancing cultural linkages.
The last in-person meeting of the Forum was organized in 2019. The theme of this year’s Forum is “Ecological Civilization and Environmental Protection.”
The Foreign Office said that during his stay in Tibet, the foreign minister will address the opening ceremony of the Trans-Himalaya Forum.

FM’s Meetings in Tibet
On the margins of the event, FM Jilani will meet with several regional dignitaries including the Deputy Prime Minister of Mongolia, the Interim Foreign Minister of Afghanistan, and the Foreign Minister of China.
