Pakistan’s Former PM Calls for Political Unity Post-Elections

MULTAN: Pakistan’s former Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani, who secured victory on National Assembly seats in the yesterday’s elections, appealed to all political stakeholders to come together for the betterment of the nation and to navigate the country out of its current challenges.

Speaking to the media after securing a razor-thin majority of 293 votes in his constituency NA-148, as per unofficial results announced after the conclusion of polling, Gilani extended his gratitude to PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Co-chairman Asif Zardari for crafting an inspiring party manifesto that resonated with the people of Multan.

Highlighting Bilawal Bhutto’s effective nationwide political campaign, Gilani emphasized that the PPP aims to enhance political and economic stability across Pakistan through collaboration with all stakeholders.

He expressed the party’s commitment to formulating foreign policies and combatting terrorism with determination.

Regarding the turmoil on the northwest border, Gilani underscored the importance of Afghanistan’s stability for Pakistan’s prosperity, emphasizing the brotherly ties between the two nations.

Identifying inflation and unemployment as major challenges facing the country, Gilani urged all political stakeholders to unite under a common agenda focused on economic development.

Gilani also mentioned that all his children had won their respective elections and pledged to work as a cohesive team to address the issues faced by the masses. He stressed that Pakistan’s economic strengthening would bolster its standing on the global stage.
