ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s caretaker government has announced the elevation of the Intelligence Bureau (IB) to division status with immediate effect, according to a notification issued by the Cabinet Division on Monday.
As per the notification, the IB director general will hold the additional office of Secretary of the Division. The IB Division’s office would be established within the Cabinet Division.
The notification said that the prime minister, in terms of rule III of the Rules of Business, 1973 Constitution, has been pleased to form a new Division, namely, Intelligence Bureau Division (IBD), in the Cabinet Secretariat. The Director General of the Intelligence Bureau would be the ex-officio Secretary of the Division.
Pakistan Cricket Board
On the other side, the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) affairs have also been shifted to the Cabinet Division.
This decision placed the PCB directly under the purview of the Prime Minister’s Office, ending its accountability to the Inter-Provincial Coordination Ministry.
