ISLAMABAD: The government of Pakistan on Wednesday notified an increase in salaries and pensions of its employees proposed in the Budget 2024-25.

According to the notification issued by the Finance Division, the adhoc relief allowance of employees up to grade-16 has been raised by 25 percent.

Similarly, the adhoc relief allowance of government officials from grade-17 to grade-22 has been increased by 20 percent.

Meanwhile, the division also notified a 15 percent increase, proposed in the Budget 2024, in pensions of employees of the federal government.

In the notification, the Finance Division said the President has granted an Adhoc Relief Allowance 2024 to all federal government employees, armed forces personnel, civil armed forces, and civil employees of the federal government as well as the civilians paid from defence estimates including contingent paid staff and contract employees employed against civil posts in basic pay scales.

The adhoc relief allowance can be availed after income tax deduction. Employees will get the allowance during regular offs and leaves preparatory to retirement. However, they will not be able to avail it during ‘extraordinary’ leaves.

This allowance will not be counted for the calculation of gratuity, pension and house rent received by the employees. The allowance will also not be given to employees during the deputation abroad. However, after coming back from abroad, they will start receiving the allowance.
