Pakistan’s High Commissioner-Designate to Sri Lanka Meets President Alvi

 ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s High Commissioner-designate to Sri Lanka, Major General (Retd) Faheem Ul Aziz, called on President Dr. Arif Alvi here at President House on Wednesday.

During the meeting, President Alvi emphasized the significant value Pakistan attaches to its bilateral relations with Sri Lanka, spanning over seven decades of robust bonds, a press release issued from the President House stated.

President Alvi highlighted the importance of enhancing people-to-people and cultural connections between Pakistan and Sri Lanka while also emphasizing the need to strengthen ties in the fields of economy and education.

He urged for an increase in bilateral trade volume with Sri Lanka, maximizing its full potential and transforming the goodwill feelings between the two countries into robust economic relations.

President Alvi also pointed out the Buddhist heritage sites in Pakistan, emphasizing their importance for promoting tourism activities in the country.

Furthermore, Arif Alvi congratulated Major General (Retd) Faheem Ul Aziz on his appointment as Pakistan’s High Commissioner to Sri Lanka.
