Pakistan’s Information Minister, Kazakhstan Ambassador Discuss Bilateral Ties

ISLAMABAD: Caretaker Federal Minister for Information, Broadcasting, and Parliamentary Affairs Murtaza Solangi said on Wednesday that Pakistan valued its ties with Kazakhstan and was working on strengthening them in diverse fields.

During a meeting with the Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Pakistan, Yerzhan Kistafin, important matters, including bilateral relations, strengthening cooperation in the media sector, promoting public ties, and regional situation, were discussed.

Murtaza Solangi and the envoy agreed to establish offices of state media organizations of both countries in Pakistan and Kazakhstan. He said that there is a need to promote public ties and the exchange of cultural delegations between the two nations.

Solangi stressed further promoting the cooperation between state media institutions of the two sides. He said that the PTV and Radio Pakistan were the main sources of access to information on both sides.

The issue of inking a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting of Pakistan and the Ministry of Information and Social Development of Kazakhstan was also discussed in the meeting.

In this regard, it was also agreed to hold a Zoom meeting between the Information Ministers of the two countries.

MoU Between Pakistan, Kazakhstan

A memorandum of understanding for media cooperation was inked between Associated Press of Pakistan (APP) and Kazakh Information Agency in 2018, Murtaza Solangi said.

A team from Lahore was leaving for Kazakhstan for film shooting, which was a significant step towards promoting cultural ties between the two countries, he said.

He said that Pakistan was a key member of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), and next meeting of the SCO was being held in Kazakhstan.

Terming SCO a dynamic platform for building ties with regional countries, Murtaza Solangi said that Pakistan maintained deep, historical, and cultural relations with members of the group as “Our interests and objectives are broadly intertwined”.

The envoy invited the minister to visit Kazakhstan to sign the MOU between the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting of Pakistan and the Ministry of Information and Social Development of Kazakhstan.

He said that the President of Kazakhstan profoundly loved Pakistan and its people.

The diplomat said the President of Kazakhstan will visit Pakistan next year.
