Pakistan’s Interior Minister Calls for Enhancing Cooperation with Netherlands

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has stressed the need to enhance bilateral cooperation between Pakistan and the Netherlands in diverse sectors particularly to control human trafficking.

He was talking to the Ambassador of the Netherlands to Pakistan, Henny de Vries, who called on him in Islamabad on Tuesday.

The Interior Minister said that Pakistan attaches great importance to its ties with the Netherlands and is keen to expand relations in various sectors. Terming the human smugglers as a big mafia, he called for joint efforts to deal with this heinous issue.

They also exchanged views on the upcoming visit of the cricket team of the Netherlands to Pakistan, aimed at promoting these joint efforts. The two sides emphasized strengthening ties in the game of Cricket.

On Afghan refugees, the interior minister said Pakistan has been hosting them for many decades. The two sides agreed to enhance cooperation between Pakistan and the Netherlands for the welfare of Afghan refugees.

Ambassador Henny de Vries congratulated Mohsin Naqvi for his nomination as a President of the Asian Cricket Council and underscored the importance of sports diplomacy.

Mohsin Naqvi during the meeting also congratulated the ambassador on the formation of the new Dutch government.
