Pakistan’s Javelin Star Arshad Nadeem Grabs Silver at World Athletics Championship

BUDAPEST: Pakistan’s top javelin thrower, Arshad Nadeem, won a silver medal at the World Athletics Championship in Budapest, Hungary on Sunday.

He was able to secure the second position with a throw of 87.82 meters in his third attempt.

India’s Neeraj Chopra garbed the gold medal with the best throw of 88.17 meters. while Jakub Vadlejch of the Czech Republic got bronze with 86.6-meter throw.

Arshad has created history with the achievement as this was Pakistan’s first-ever medal at the World Athletics Championship.

In his first attempt, Arshad’s throw only reached 74.80 meters, however, he made a comeback with 82.81 meters on his second attempt.

Arshad’s third throw was his best with 87.82 meters, securing the second position for him.  In his fourth attempt, he could only reach 87.12 meters.

Result

He qualified for the final of the World Athletics Championship with a throw of 86.79 meters on Saturday.

Arshad Nadeem, came into the limelight with a commendable fifth-place finish in the Tokyo Olympics. Last year, Nadeem’s journey continued as he grabbed fifth place in the World Championship held in the United States.

His talents reached the highest with a remarkable record-breaking feat of 90.18 meters at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.

He later underwent elbow and left knee surgery in London. He returned to the field in May at the 34th National Games in Quetta.
