ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s javelin thrower Arshad Nadeem is gearing up to seize a historic opportunity at the upcoming Paris Olympics, aiming to secure a gold medal for his country, a feat Pakistan has not achieved since the 1992 Barcelona Games.

Speaking from Islamabad, Nadeem expressed confidence in his preparations and readiness for the prestigious sporting event. “I am fully prepared and determined to bring home a gold medal for Pakistan,” he affirmed.

Nadeem, who made history by becoming Pakistan’s first-ever javelin thrower to qualify for the Olympics, showcased his prowess in the Tokyo Games in 2021, finishing a commendable fifth. His journey since then has been marked by rigorous training and competitive appearances to refine his technique and performance.

Recently returning to competition after a recovery period from surgery, Nadeem participated in the Paris Diamond League, where he demonstrated significant improvement and reaffirmed his competitive edge. Despite narrowly missing out on a podium finish, Nadeem’s throws, including a notable 82.71 meters, positioned him prominently among elite competitors in the field.

Reflecting on his performance, Nadeem highlighted his determination to continue refining his skills during training sessions in Paris, aiming to achieve peak performance at the Olympics. “I will focus on further improvements before the event, and if everything goes according to plan, I am confident of securing a medal for my country,” he stated optimistically.
