ISLAMABAD: Pakistan fast bowler Hasan Ali is most likely to be unavailable for the upcoming two-match Test series against Bangladesh at home next month due to an elbow injury, according to media reports.

The series, which is part of the ICC Test Championship 2023-2025, will see Pakistan host Bangladesh next month.

The first Test of the series is scheduled to take place from August 21 to August 25 in Rawalpindi, followed by the second Test from August 30 to September 3 in Karachi. Hasan Ali, a key player in Pakistan’s fast-bowling lineup, has been sidelined due to the elbow injury he sustained during his recent stint with English county side Warwickshire.

Hassan Ali’s injury has significantly affected his performance and participation. He managed to play only three first-class matches and five T20 games for Warwickshire before the injury curtailed his involvement. The right-arm pacer is now set to undergo a comprehensive treatment plan to address his elbow issues.

The 30-year-old bowler was a part of Pakistan’s squad for their previous Test series against Australia, where he played in two out of three matches but struggled, capturing only two wickets. Since his Test debut in 2017, Hasan Ali has accumulated a total of 80 wickets in 24 Test matches.

Historically, Pakistan has had a dominant record against Bangladesh in Test cricket, winning 12 of the 13 matches they have played since their first encounter during the Asian Test Championship in 2001. The only draw between the two sides adds to Pakistan’s favourable head-to-head record.
