TANGERANG: Pakistan’s Maliha Ali secured a bronze medal in the -73 kg category at the 6th Asian Open Kyorugi Taekwondo Championship in Tangerang, Indonesia. Maliha, a student at Lahore Garrison University, earned recognition for her remarkable performance.
The championship brought together over 275 athletes from various Asian nations, including India, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, the Philippines, Malaysia, Nepal, and Indonesia.
The -73 kg category saw fierce competition, with the gold medal going to South Korea’s Shin Jeong Jin, while Indonesia’s Maheshwari Nadira claimed the silver. Maliha’s bronze medal marks an important milestone in her career.
Ahead of the tournament, a 16-member taekwondo squad from Pakistan traveled to Indonesia to participate in the prestigious event. Pakistan’s delegation was eager to make a mark on the international stage, and Maliha’s victory has added to the country’s growing reputation in the sport.
The championship, hosted at the Indore Stadium Sports Center, provided a high-level platform for athletes to showcase their abilities and foster a spirit of camaraderie among the competing nations.
