BEIJING: Pakistan’s meat exports to China have reached an impressive $3.37 million from January to September 2024, as reported by the General Administration of Customs of China (GACC).
Ghulam Qadir, Trade and Investment Counsellor at the Pakistan Embassy in Beijing, said that Chinese consumers are increasingly adventurous in their culinary preferences, showing a growing interest in high-quality meat from countries like Pakistan.
The country’s strong tradition in meat production, particularly in beef and mutton, aligns well with the tastes of Chinese consumers. This rising demand is part of China’s broader strategy to diversify its meat sources and enhance food security.
So, how did Pakistan achieve this milestone? It’s a result of hard work and strategic planning. The government has actively supported initiatives to boost export capabilities, and Pakistani meat exporters have successfully met China’s stringent quality standards. They have demonstrated their capacity to maintain hygiene and ensure a consistent supply, positioning themselves competitively on the international stage.
Mongolia and Pakistan are the leading exporters of boiled meat to China, with Pakistan exporting 694 tons valued at $3.371 million during the same period, while Mongolia exported 2,410 tons worth $10.24 million.
It’s noteworthy that the GACC allowed Pakistani companies to export boiled meat to China last year, and currently, three Pakistani firms are registered with the GACC for this purpose.
