Pakistan’s Minister Orders High Alert for Dengue Threat

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Saturday instructed the Islamabad administration to stay alert regarding the threat of dengue fever amid the ongoing monsoon season rains.

The minister specifically directed Muhammad Ali Randhawa, Chairman of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) and Chief Commissioner of Islamabad, to ensure strict adherence to all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) aimed at preventing the spread of dengue fever.

Naqvi emphasized the immediate drainage of water from low-lying areas and underscored the importance of fully implementing the dengue prevention plan without any lapses. He warned against any negligence in this regard.

Additionally, the minister mandated that hospitals and laboratories in the city collaborate to gather data on dengue cases and ensure coordinated efforts for an effective response.

During the briefing, Chairman CDA Muhammad Ali Randhawa updated the Minister on ongoing preventive measures, highlighting the formation of a working group dedicated to controlling dengue in the border areas between Islamabad and Rawalpindi. He assured that both administrations would work collaboratively to combat dengue during the current season.

As of now, Islamabad has reported nine cases of dengue fever.
